I went on a little more at length about what she’s about in the linked post up above, but bottom line is: it’s fucking brilliant. Pretty intense but also very tongue-in-cheek, innovative, just great. GREAT.
Nina Simone is probably my all time favorite artist, and I just realized today that the only LP of hers that I have (which I picked up at Hyde Park Records back in the day for a song) is her first ever album, Little Girl Blue. Originally it was called “Jazz as Played in an Exclusive Side Street Club,” which is just hilarious.
Here is that 1958 album, which she made in her mid-twenties. I hope you love it as much as I do.
(You guys can find an archive of all the music I’ve posted on this blog by clicking on the side bar menu in the upper left-hand corner and searching ‘sweet tunage’)
My factory girl earrings.
Ursina Gysi from this week’s Paris Fashion Week.
Feeling romantic today in two ASTR pieces from Nordstrom. A pretty pink top with button detail and a blue pleather full skirt. Worn with 90s looking satin slip ons.
And pretty earrings my B bought me.
Took it easy today since I wasn’t feeling so hot but went out to get some food. Wearing my red platform sneaks from Urban, Free People socks, Anthro skirt, Garage striped top, and my vintage NBC bomber jacket and vintage purse.
Xoxo I hate the polar vortex
I’ve decided to go paraben and carcinogenic free with my daily beauty products (though I’m not switching to natural makeup because I wear it so infrequently.) From left to right: Jason Lavender deodorant which I have to reapply 3x a day so far, Dr. Bronner’s in Hemp Rose for my body wash and shampoo - smells so good, Acure Clensing Gel for my face wash, Jason Aloe Vera conditioner which I like so far, MyChelle Pumpkin Renew for my day and night cream, MyChelle Replenishing Solar Defense SPF 30 for the day, Dr. Hauschka Eye Cream, and 100% Organic Cocoa Butter for when my Palmer’s runs out.
I’ll let you guys know how everything is when I’ve used it all for awhile!
